2000 Bonneville Squealing Brakes

I just changed brakes and rotors all around on my 2000 Bonneville and now I'm getting a loud squealing noise from the front left wheel. When I take off the tire and move the rotor back and forth I can hear a little high pitched noise like it's rubbing on something but I can't see what it can be. I've taken off the caliper and shoes and put it back together and it seems ok but when I put everything back together and drive the car the squealing comes back. Any suggestions as to what could be making this noise.

Thanks

Re: 2000 Bonneville Squealing Brakes

One thing to check is there is a bracket behind the rotor that you can check from under the car (you dont have to take tire off) and it could have been bent in touching rotor as it turns, just bend it out, I had this but it was more a jingle noise.Other than that the pads or rotors could be issue, what kind are they.

Re: 2000 Bonneville Squealing Brakes

If the pads didn't come with shims that could be the reason for the squeal in the brakes. If there are no shims go to the local autoparts store and purchase a pack of brake quiet. Put it on the back of the pads, allow to dry and replace the pads. It should eliminate the squeal.
