Intake Tube Lengh/Filter Cone Length

Does the length of the intake tube make a difference when desciding to purchase an intake system?
How about the filter cone lenth?

Is it better to use the longest one you can find? or does it matter?

Re: Intake Tube Lengh/Filter Cone Length

Hi, welcome to AF,
Tube length only effects one thing really... sound. Others will debate it but from my experience the only time a difference is made in actually gaining or losing power is when colder air is sucked in vs. hot air. A shorter intake tube with the filter located within the engine bay will suck in hotter air from the engine bay but will sound louder. A longer tube with the filter placed outside of the engine bay will not be as loud but may suck in colder air and add a few hp. I've only really noticed gains when it was extremely cold outside and my car was running great.
