2WD to 4WD swap
I know this sounds stupid but let me explain the situation. I have a 99 2WD that came from Florida so the body is the cleanest i've ever seen due to the fact that i am from Cleveland ohio. Now i'm being given a 99 4WD that's mechanically sound but the damn thing is rotting away. (my mother in law didn't believe in washing the thing in winter) So i want the 4X4 and don't want to have to do any body work. To put the rust into perspective the oil pan is about to go. Anyway is it more complicated than i'm thinking. i have access to the proper facility with all the lifts and tools i'll ever need and i've already got a trans swap under the belt. i'm just wondering if it's just swapping the parts or am i missing something that'll be a huge pain in the rear

Re: 2WD to 4WD swap
is there any possibility to keep both and use the 4x4 as a play toy, having to fix your daily driver after messin it up in the woods is a bitch.
trying to make the 2 wheel drive into a 4x4 is a lot of work, youll have to swap tranmissions, which is abd enough. you can do it, its just a bunch of work. |

Re: 2WD to 4WD swap
well i've already done the trans in the 2wd it sucked but i did it and since i already know what i'm in for with that it doesn't scare me much. but keeping the 2wd for a driver would be a pain in the but the trans is on it's way out as it is and i have a motorcycle for a daily dirver so it would be mostly a toy and the bad weather vehicle. gas prices suck but not so much when on two wheels
