1990 300 E What is considered high mileage

I'm planning to sell my 1990 300E 4 dr. The auto is in great shape and well taken care of (purchased SUV). I've had the car for about 2 years. When one asks the mileage they seem to run the other way. I feel like I'm dealing with someone who does not know Mercedes.. I need feedback. My next ad will states "Mercedes Lovers Only".

Re: 1990 300 E What is considered high mileage

Nowdays, you will be hard pressed to get much more than what an Edmonds, KBB, or NADA value is for the car, no matter how excellent the condition is. High mileage cars (over 100,000) will require maintenance, and folks know the Mercedes emblem on the dash means the parts will cost more. A true Mercedes lover probably already has a newer model, although I do prefer the look of my '87 300E over the newer C and E Class.

So, you may find that one person willing to pay premium prices for older cars, but chances are you'll have to wait awhile, if you find him/her.

Just trying to be realistic here, but you can do what you want.

Re: 1990 300 E What is considered high mileage

Thank you for your feedback and your correct, the right person came along. Monday, at the gas station a person beside me drove up in an 82 MB Diesel and we began a conversation and I let her know that I was planning to sell my car and if she knew anyone who would be interested to have them call me. I had a call by Wednesday and the car sold Thursday as soon as the MB mechanic did a compression and maintence check of my car. Everything was in excellent condition for the age and mileage on car and I sold the car for what I asked for.

Yeah!!!

171 is nothing. I have an 87 260 with 550k and a 300d with 365k. they both still run great and wouldn't part with either
