Fuel Door Switch Wont Work!!!

The fuel door switch ontop of the parking brake wont work at all in my 97. Its a pain in the ass popping the trunk and using the door release from there. Does anyone have any idea on what to do to make it work again??

Re: Fuel Door Switch Wont Work!!!

It depends on whether the electrics are actually working on the door or corrosion has gummed up the works.

Good Luck

Re: Fuel Door Switch Wont Work!!!

The same thing happened to my '02 Park Avenue. My electrical tests showed current was getting to the switch, but not exiting to the trunk relay when the switch was pressed. I removed the switch, took it apart, cleaned the contacts and the wire connector at the switch, put it back in and it's worked since then.

It's hard to believe that GM cannot even make a simple switch, used relatively little, that will actually work right for more than a few years. My next car will have to be Japanese made - I've had to work on this one way to many times for its age and low usage.
