Vacuum hose hornets nest

Whats the best way to replace all the vacuum lines under the intake manifold of a 93-95 RX-7? Is there any type of vacuum line to use thats better than others? I heard this job is a real pain to do.

Re: Vacuum hose hornets nest

I thought this was going to be how to kill hornets in a vaccum hose. As for hose. I would suggest rubber with metal mesh to make sure the line doesn't....suck in for lack of a better word.

Re: Vacuum hose hornets nest

take your motor out, and get the new vacuum hoses that dont crack. you dont need a specific kit, just buy a long hose, and cut as needed...

If money is not an object, use viton hose. Otherwise use silicone hose. NEVER use regular rubber hose as this is what caused the demise of the twin turbo motors to begin with (among other things).

Replace check valves with Viton check valves. Also, take the time to check the 12 solenoids end nipples to make sure they are not brittle. Press on them. If they break, then replace. The 7 or 8 that appear similar are acutally mechanically and pneumatically identical.

In addition, if you are going to be staying with the sequential system and want to maintain a 10-8-10 boost pattern (assuming your FD is in well running order). Do not forget to remove the 'restrictor pills' in your "wastegate" and "precontrol" actuator lines and insert them into your new hoses. It is a good idea to replace one hose at a time.

Good luck with the "rats nest". One weekend is all you need to complete this job.

Marc

Someone was selling these some time ago on ebay. They sure beat the stock check valves for quality and price.

Viton check valves are great. I am actually in the process of ordering a set from a member on the Rx7Club forum. Below is the link where you can order a set.

Tim,
What is the difference between the one you posted and the one Dale sells?

As far as I know, just the price. They are most likely made by one company only.

That is what I thought. I just wanted to make sure there was no major difference. Better to be safe then sorry, you know how that is in the rotary world...lol
