what should i do with a "82"???

i Have A 82 Hb Rabbit. It's Been Sittin For 2 Years Im Sure It Needs A New Engine From All The Problems I Had With It Before I Parked It. I Have A Buddy That Can Fabricate If Need It.there Are Plenty Of Vw Shops In The City. I Luv My 82 Sunroof, And I Plan On Turning It Into A Sturdy Sporty Quik Enough To Turn And Burn Heads.realisticly!!! Where And How Should I Get Started On This Project? I Want To Have This Baby Up And Running Asap, With A Sturdy Base To Build On. please!! help!!!!!!!
