Something I've always wondered (about tires)

Say you normally inflate your tires to about 35 psi. But you were about to go on a long trip and wanted to get better mileage, so you temporarily inflated them to about 60 psi until you got there (and back), then let the air out so that it'd go back down to about 35 psi. Would this be a good idea, or would you run a big risk for a blowout?

Re: Something I've always wondered (about tires)

besides the sidewall not being designed to take almost twice the pressure you'd be putting in it, that would be one rough riding mother. every bump you hit would have that thing bouncing all over the road. i would definitely advise against doing it, but if you do, post some pics of the crash.

The max tire pressure is stamped on the tire.
If you go over that or inflate to 60 lbs. be sure to double your insurance and call 911 and have the stand by about a 100 miles down the road.
