vr4 and a 300zx; srt4 takes a beating

Ran into some old nemesises. Awhile back (can't find the thread) I was racing somebody else, and a cammed 60s stang decided to join in the fun, and put a beating on us. Well last night there was apparently a car show near my work, so as I was heading home, and sitting at a light...I happen to see the guy in his stang (with a fresh new paintjob). As I'm drooling over how the car looks and sounds, some kid in an srt4 decides he's gonna try his luck. They are lined up at the other end of hte intersection, coming towards me. The stang practically goes sideways in first, but it didn't matter as the kid int he srt4 bogged his launch horribly. The stang straightened out and it was all over, he had 2 cars by the time he reached my end of hte intersection (6 direction traffic light). I whip my head around, grinning ear to ear as this srt chases. It was just ridiculous in a matter of seconds. The stang was a 1/4 mile away and over a hill, and hte srt4 was still boosting along after it, still in view for at least another 4 or 5 seconds.

Other one was earlier in the day. I ran into a 300zx I had run before...with similar results. This time I was running more boost, and had no passengers, so it was even easier to stick to his rear bumper. Surprisingly we were going the same direction across town, so I followed him for miles...never getting a chance to line up. But everytime he started to take off, I was right on his rear bumper. Almost took it off twice We took it through a few fun twisties, one after the other, just tearing across town...making great time. FINALLY, we get near my neighborhood and I know it's now or never. We both hang a right and I boost through the turn, sure enough he's off right in front of me. Technically it's a 2 way road, but it's wide enough for 4, has no distinct lines or signs to say not to pass, so I usually do. This time was no exception. I boost through the turn and go wide left, as he switches to the right. I slam it into 2nd and pass his rear bumper, then pull on his door, then pull even as I'm hitting 3rd. 3rd I started to leave him, putting a couple cars between us by 90ish...by this time traffic started coming up, and we both wanted the left lane, so I started to slow and let him pull in front of me. Got a thumbs up from the guy and went home.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.
