turbo... air filter?

So where should I put my air filter? is there an ideal spot for turbo charged cars to have it?... cuz right now I have it across from my fan with it's head poking out the bottom of the car, running up to the turbo... is there a better spot?... should I just slap the filter on the end of the turbo and have it under the hood? HELP

Re: turbo... air filter?

Right on the turbo works if you have the space. You won't notice any huge differences on the placement of the filter. The air is being sucked in, so I doubt the turbo is asking for nice straight smooth airflow. It's sucking like a las vegas prostitute.

Place it where you feel it's at its safest.

Re: turbo... air filter?

also if there isn't room, you can just toss a piece of mesh over the inlet and go to town...no need for a filter. Also, i built a short intake for my turbo setup...its not that hard if you have access to the right materials and tools...

Or you could leave it like this one....no filter

Re: turbo... air filter?

Just make sure you at the very least have some mesh over the compressor's inlet so you don't swallow small animals and turbo killing debris.

Re: turbo... air filter?

Pick your self up a pre-filter its one of the best things I got when I had my CAI. It kept out alot of road crap and dirt from the filter so it will do wonders for yours being stuck on the turbo. Sure you can find one cheaper but andys was the only place off the top of my head I could remember that had them.
