spraypainting question

ok i screwed up my renault 5 turbo large! help!

i was spraypainting it and now these bubbles formed at the bumpers and other crack areas. and down the door it looks like its running like wter but it dried already. should i have primed it? can i take this coat off? its the first coat.


DAMN IT! on a friday night too!!

The bubbles on the bumper and the cracks are probably caused by tiny drops of water that was still on the model when you painted it, I had that happen to me before also. Also, always use primer on your models cause it allows the paint to adhere better to the surface. Also try to spray several thin layers of paint rather than one thick layer, that's probably what caused the running along the side. Try using CSC to strip the paint off then prime it.

Primer is always recommended. Aside from obvious reason to make the paint stick better, plastic is somewhat translucent, but primer will make it look more solid. The paint run is probably a little to do with primer, but the distance and the amount of paint applied at a time are more important.

If the color is solid, (meaning no metallic or clear), then you can sand and flatten the paint run with a fine sand paper such as 1500 or 2000 grit, then proceed for the next coats. You'll need five or six coats anyway, so it should hide the flaw on the first coat.
