Question Remote Keyless Entry

I need help programming my 2 remotes for my 1989 Buick Park Avenue. Neither of the remotes worked when I bought it. What do I do?

Re: Remote Keyless Entry

maybe you should admit defeat. I honestly don't think the 89 park aves were available with keyless entry. But, I'm not knowledgeable with the older park aves. 91-96 is my specialty.

Lightbulb Keyless Entry

I know for a fact that the 1989 Buick Electra Park Avenue comes with Keyless Entry. You cannot get it with just a cheapie package. You have to have the TOTAL LUXURY Package. And when the windows sticker says $25,280, you better believe that it has keyless entry.

This does work for 91 and 92's ....might also for 89's.

Leave key off
Jumper pin A to pin G with a fused jumper (3A)
Doors will lock and unlock
Pres the UNLOCK button on the remote
Doors should lock and unlock again
if you have more remotes press their unlock button (up to 4)
remove jumper wire

ryan, take it easy, I said I was only guessing. I will remember that though, Buicks always were one of the first with high-dollar technology.

I was reading the response from mike, and you people are good!
I do have a question for my 91 lesabre limited, I purchased the car, and didn't know that it had keyless entry, until I had to do some dash work, and found the receiver box behind the glove box, now I want to get a keyless transmitter, but the fcc tag is gone from the receiver, and since this must be a GM dealer installed item because the box shows that is is a GM item; Would GM have that info. if I just give them(ie. a dealer) my vin? Or am I going to have to replace the box, or buy transmitters online like I read about people doing, and then having to sell them, because they arn't the right one for their car.
I can be contacted via email, AOL IM, MSN IM
Thank You!
Chris

Chris, you can buy a keyfob at any GM dealer. You won't need the serial number or the number off the box. Just let them know what year it is and they should be able to tell what keyfob you need. You can buy them on eBay also...... usually about half the price of a new one from GM. I have bought several of them for around $15-25. Just get one and follow the instructions in the posts above and you will have a working keyless entry in a few minutes.

Sounds like a Passkeyİ or maybe ignition switch problem. The diode contacts get dirty and then the car won't run. You might ask this in one of the threads about non-starting issues

Re: Remote Keyless Entry

Just to go back to the top of this post concerning the programming of the keyless entry remotes for the 1989 buick park avenue - directions suggest I connect terminals A and G together to make the door locks lock and unlock. There is no terminal present in G. Just want to let you all know that. And if anyone here knows how to program the remotre for an '89, let me know. Thanks.
