Tranny Problem

Backed my little puddle jumper out of the parking place and tried to go into first, the stick just flops around and it's stuck in reverse. clutch disengages.

Re: Tranny Problem

Ooops! Man that sounds bad. It could be the Clutch Plate, or a Warped pressure plate or flywheel, There is no way around it, you are going to need to open that tranny and see, or take it to a specialist.

Re: Tranny Problem

Aren't you talking about the shifter cable coming loose off the tower inside the car? Search Google ... there may be a cheap fix... using a wiper washer from an auto parts store...

Re: Tranny Problem

I didn't really get time to get a good look at things but I did notice that one of the cables were off the shifter but the connector still looked intact. also there were two plugs near a box (computer)? but no way to connect them. it was getting dark and cold so Ill have to wait for a warmer day to investigate.

any ideas?

Re: Tranny Problem

Your problem is the shift cable off.. Those connectors are likely ones for your car if an automatic transmission were installed when built.

Some more reading pleasure and you may want to visit that site for further..

Re: Tranny Problem

got a chance to get a good look today after work and found that a black nylon clip or something fell apart that holds the shifter ball in the cable hole (sorry that's the best I can do for a description) does anybody know what the heck I'm trying to describe is called? and if so, please tell me the correct name so I won't look as foolish at the parts store/dealer as I do here.
