1994 Dual exhaust

Hi all, I'm just wondering if is it too hard to change to dual exhaust in my GM 94 V8 4.6L. Is this something I can get all the parts and do it myself or does it has to be done by a muffler shop? Thanks.

Re: 1994 Dual exhaust

Lol I can do most mechanical work in my car. If it involves cutting and using clamps I think I can handle it. If I need to weld then I'm out of luck. I'm just trying to see if I can get all the parts in the auto parts store and which ones are they. Thanks for the reply.

Re: 1994 Dual exhaust

In that case. I would try to find a 92-94 grand marquis or a crown vic at your local wrecking yard with factory dual exhaust and go with that, just for the fact that the factory systems are stainless steel and will not rot/rust. All you'll need is the H pipe and the two mufflers/tail pipes. The factory systems have a one piece mufflers/tail pipe that goes over the axel. So unless you are willing to drop the axel to get them on there, its best to cut it at the mufflers and rejoin it with a pipe or cut the mufflers right off and put on new ones, the stock ones are very quiet. You will need to drill in some hangers on the one side ( the other side already has them) and you'll need a pair of h pipe gaskets. If you get the dual exhaust at the wreckers the muffler shop might cost you a $100 for the work and clamp/ hangers.

Re: 1994 Dual exhaust

Thanks for the info I'll check the yunk yard soon. I hope I can remove it from the car lol. Where can I make cuts if I don't have enough clearance to remove it?

No problem, you can chop it at the muffler.
