95 Talon Turbo- Low oil pressure

I found a 95 Eagle Talon Turbo for $500 but lady states that it has low oil pressure. What could be the reasons for this/ Thanks

Re: 95 Talon Turbo- Low oil pressure

Could be many things... Could be as simple as just needing the oil and filter changed or it could be the oil pump going bad...

Re: 95 Talon Turbo- Low oil pressure

Most of the time it's the sending unit for the gauge / light, but without directly measuring the pressure with a mechanical gauge, it's hard to tell.

Ya know... He could take out his pressure sending unit and just thread in a pressure gauge to it and see if it is the sending unit or not. The whole sending unit thing completely slipped my mind this time and I usually do suggest to check that. lol

Re: 95 Talon Turbo- Low oil pressure

Just be very careful when installing a new sending unit, or threading in the guage, as blackcrow64 suggested. The torque for the sensor is something like 4 inch pounds. It is very easy to crack the oil filter bracket. And don't even think about asking me how I know that.

I'm glad you posted that up before I put the new sending unit in for mine.

Re: 95 Talon Turbo- Low oil pressure

I would say that if you could spend the money to see what the actual pressure is with a mechanical guage, then go for it...$500 is pretty dirt cheap.

Re: 95 Talon Turbo- Low oil pressure

I agree with what is said above. And about 80% of the time a low pressure guage reading, is because the guage/sending unit is crapping out. They are real pieces of shit in these cars.

Re: 95 Talon Turbo- Low oil pressure

So where is the guage sending unit located for this car? Also I live in a Apt complex so have no where to put car to part it out. I already have 3 cars and I am authoized one spot. Thanks for the info. Any members located near Alexandria,LA that might want to give me a hand. Thanks,Gary

Re: 95 Talon Turbo- Low oil pressure

It's on the oil filter bracket. It's gold in color, round and about 1 1/2" in diameter. I'll see if I can find a picture.

Re: 95 Talon Turbo- Low oil pressure

hah, my oil pressure gauge always reads high pressure... I ziptied the oil pressure sending unit wire on... I think I did it a bit tight, lol. But I have an oil pressure gauge for the turbo, so I can usually tell how it's doing from that.
