Re: messed up firing order leading to engine not starting...

the firing order is 1-3-4-2 (cylinder #1 is the one furthest to the right), hook them up to the distributor cap like this, I hope this diagram makes sense:

[1] [3]

[2] [4]
-------------
^Flat part of distributor cap

i tried that and the engine cranks along with a weird sqeaky pop noise but doesn't start. i also have the car manual that has the same firing order but different diagram...the diagram is this...

[3] [4]

[1] [2]

btw i also plugged in the wires according to the firing order...

Re: messed up firing order leading to engine not starting...

I'm pretty sure the firing order that bluevp00 gave you is the correct one. I just did this job myself a couple of weeks ago. Are you sure you have the wires seated completely onto the plugs? Is there a reason you didn't put in new plugs while you were at it? Obviously it's something simple if the car was running fine before this. Double-check that you have the wires properly seated on both ends (plug + distributor cap) and that they are in the right order. Maybe get some dielectric grease and put inside the boots. Next time, do one wire at a time to keep this from happening. Good luck.

Re: messed up firing order leading to engine not starting...

did you change rotor butten as that's what give spark to plugs...i did this all one time i replaced wires, plugs and it wouldn't start went and put new rotor and fired right up and i was doing this in about 30 degrees so i messed up and never put rotor butten on...good luck....

take a small hammer and bust rotor off but don't hit it to hard shouldn't take much then you can get screw's out and replace them..good luck too you.
