door chime still works even wen the key is off

I have a 1995 Ford Taurus. When I remove the ignition key the warning chime goes off when I open the door. Sometimes the interior light wont come on either when this happens. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

MY 95 also does this occasionally. In my case it's the key/lock. When I turn it off I can pull the key before the lock is turned all the way off. Then when I open the door the key chime goes off as if the key was still in the lock. If I reach back in I can turn the lock completely off without the key and the chime stops.

Thanks for the info. I probably just need to replace the ignition. Mine will sometimes go off when I turn the key off but other times the chime will stay on.
