No acceleration

I have a 93' that seems to have retired it's racing shoes. I can press the pedal to the floor and it will accelerate at moderate speed. The engine RPMs never go high as though I'm not pressing the gas pedal hard enough. The ignition module is new, as is the plugs and the wires seem to be good. I have spark from all coils. It also has a sluggish start like the battery is low, but all seems to be fine there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: No acceleration

Replace your fuel and air filters, and pcv valve If you haven't done so in a long while. Try to clean the throttle body, too.

Re: No acceleration

What would be a good way to test the fuel regulator without a vacuum pump. Also my security light comes on if i hit the gas hard enough

Re: No acceleration

Hay GM

I would look at your slow starting. It sounds like a bad conection somewhere. I would look for voltage drops. Clean ground conections. Finding this problem "may" lead you to your accel problem.

Regards

Dan

Re: No acceleration

I found out that the connection to the alternator was loose. Now I'm assuming that it's the transmission starting out in a higher gear.

code 26: shift problem

code 31: neutral/safety switch

code 56: quad b

Re: No acceleration

Could be a trans solenoid here if it is starting in second or 3rd. Make sure the connection at the trans is clean and tight take it off and look for any corrosion first.

Re: No acceleration

I think that i have to deal with neutral start switch telling the pcm that the tranny is in a different gear, causing the wrong solenoid to activate.
