Do I need to remove the steering wheel to put a new turn signal switch in?

Its on the side of the steering wheel with the cruise control etc.
I was able to just buy the switch for 30.00 new.'
Its a 93 camaro, it has a small opening to get to the wires, but do i still need to pull the steering wheel.

The problem is the left turn signal stayed on, replaced the bulbs, sockets look good.
Forways work.

Thankyou 4 any help

Welcome. I do believe the wheel does have to come off. If you have an airbag you have to go through the disarming procedures for that as well.

MAKE SURE YOU DISCONECT THE BATTERY AND BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU ARE WORKING ON THIS!!! Even with the battery disconected, there are still sensors that MAY be armed and COULD DEPLOY THE AIR-BAG right in your face!! I know these are two different cars but, when I replaced the multi-function switch (turnsignals, brights, hazards, wipers) in my 97 Taurus, I did not have to take the wheel off. I just had to take the cover off the colum. Your Chevy may be the same, or you may have to take the wheel off. I wouldn't know without looking at it. Make sure you get a Chiltons or Haynes maual and do everything it says in order. Just be carefull, EVEN WITH THE BATTERY DISCONECTED if you do something wrong, you could set off the air-bag right in your face!!

Wheel has to come off. GM used the same steering column assembly from the early 70's to 2002 in the f-bodies.
