What Trans Do I Have?

I have a 95 Silverado. It is a 5 speed with reverse. Has no low gear. I am going to replace it and in order to look for a replacment I need to know what it is. Thanks Guys.

Re: What Trans Do I Have?

It's probably a NV3500 (New Venture Gear) but I can't guarantee that. In the Helm manual for my 96 it says that the manual transmission is either a NV4500 RPO code MW3 (has low gear) or NV3500 RPO Code MG5 (2wd) or M50 (4wd). The RPO Codes will be listed on the decal in the glove box.

I don't know if there are any changes from 95 to 96. Some of the older transmissions (I have been told) were Getrag, but I don't know what years.
