Power steering question...

If I were to cut the power steering belt what would be the worst thing that can happen besides steering? The reason why i'm asking is because it's about to break off anyway and not too sure what it's connected to, waterpump? Any pros or cons with removing? Thanks!

Re: Power steering question...

Why don't you want power steering? Just replace the belt...voila your good to go.

Re: Power steering question...

You will lose just your power steering and I believe your A/C. Not a huge deal, but will be hard as hell to drive though. You need that power steering. Just replace the belt.

Re: Power steering question...

Thanks!
Is it hard to replace the belt? How easy is it to replace? I have never changed any belts before. Any special tools needed or just remove a couple bolts?

Re: Power steering question...

When I lost my waterpump, I also lost my power steering... So tell me, do you really wanna lose your power steering? lol

There are 3 bolts (I think its 3, its been a while since I did that) on the power steering pump that you loosen and then you can move it enough to change the belt. Put the new one on and pull the pump so everything is tight and tighten up your bolts again... Its that easy.
