power window problem

i recently bought a 97 sunfire gt for parts
however it in really good shape so im going to put it on the road
theres a problem with the drivers window-it will start coming down then it stops and wont go up or down at all but if i wait awhile it will go up a bit then stop again
i will keep doing this until after quite awhile i get it to finaly close completely
its not the switch because i have tried a switch that works and get the same results
so im thinking its likely a motor problem but i removed the door panel and it
looks like the motor would be a nightmare to swap out
everything is riveted and hidden out of sight with very little room to work with

any ideas or advice would be much appreciated

thanks

Re: power window problem

Do a quick search next time.. there are TONS of threads on this topic.

Its the motor, it must be replaced and soon, as it will die and leave you with an open window with no way to close it, and it will usually start to rain.

dont bother with a junk yard motor as the motors on these cars die quickly and you will most likely get a motor on its way out.

New motor is fairly cheap 50-80, but install is a pain. You need to drill out the rivets and replace them.

I got my mechanic to do it for $200.
