tiny rust spot
I've got a tiny spot of rust on the passenger rear quater panel (which sucks) and I don't wan't it to spread. The previous owner had what looked to be like silicone covering it up, which seemed to do the trick of stopping the spread but some of it came off, exposing a small spot of rust. What's the best way to contain the spread without having to cut out the metal and replace it with new metal? I was just thinking about re-applying the silicone but I wasn't sure if that was the best route.

Re: tiny rust spot
the only sure way to stop it is to take it down to bare metal. Hopefully its in a fairly inconspicuous spot.
I had rust on the body welds right behind the front wheels where you would usa a jack. After a little work with the wire wheel i just threw on some primer and some heavy duty epoxy paint and it seems good to go. Of course, if its in the middle of a body panel, youll wanna be more delicate...lol. |

Re: tiny rust spot
Yea it's right where the rear bumper meets the rear quater panel right above the wheel well.

Re: tiny rust spot
Your best bet is to sand it down to the bare metal removing all the rust. Then you will want to repaint the area and clear coat it.
