Trans Cooler and Misc Qs
Ive heard that one of the main problems with the ATX trannys is the heat it creates. So ive decided to purchase a tranny cooler, i found this: Hayden Transaver Plus transmission cooler kit, and just wondering if it is a good cooler or not. Another question, once i get new fliuds for the tranny and have it all tuned up i would like to put in the Translab shift kit, i noticed that this as been associated with a high stall torque converter. Just wondering why exactly i should get that and what it really does. Thanks.
P.S. my shift lock is still broken and i have no idea where to even look to fix it, if anyone knows more i would be interested in any info thanks. |

Re: Trans Cooler and Misc Qs
1. Unless you know what your really looking for, I would buy one of the tranny coolers from importperformancetransmissions.com
2. The shift kit allows your transmission to shift quicker therefore reducing the ability for something to slip between gears. 3. The high-stall torque converter raises the the rpm level where the torque converter allows the transmission to start moving. It also is built better allowing the transmission to hold more power. 4. You do not have to have both the shift kit and the high-stall torque converter installed together. They are completely separate of each other.

Re: Trans Cooler and Misc Qs
OKay thanks, ill check out their website. Yeah i know that the shift kit and torque converter are seperate i just didnt know what the latter did exactly. Oh and if anyone knows where i can find code readouts online thatd be a help for me. Mr. Tranny said he couldnt get any codes off of the TCU but got some off of the computer for the engine i suppose.

Re: Trans Cooler and Misc Qs
ATX TCU stuff is covered in the FAQ thread.
