well where do i start? I have a 2000 Ford Ranger 2WD v6 3.0L. This problem started around the 1st of jan. When I get up in the morning at 6a.m. and i try to start my car it cranks and cranks but wont turn over.So I started giving it a little gas with the gas peddel and it starts up pretty ruff alot of shaking for about 5-8 seconds then it idol's fine and runs smooth as the day i bought it. Now for the rest of the day it starts fine, turn the key cranks 2-3 times and away I go. So what could this be? I took it to auto zone and the only code it was reading was a P1400 (EGR circuit low input) which im pretty sure has nothing to do with this crazy morning start problem i'm having. Keep in mind that this truck runs perfect as the day I bought it after I get it started first thing in the morning. Please help !
Thanks ~Brandon~

Re: trouble starting first thing in the morning??
opcorn: Update so far: Replaced EGR valve Replaced Spark Plugs Fuel filter was fine and good flow Condition of the old plugs were bad, real bad, huge gap. Start up time is in one click now so the start up time is 110% faster already The true test will be tomorrow morning (crosing fingers) I will update tomorrow on how the start up went. |

Re: trouble starting first thing in the morning??
I had an identicle problem. Turned out it was the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor sending the wrong data to the brainbox. Costs about 30 bucks and takes about 5 minutes to change.

Re: trouble starting first thing in the morning??
Had a similar problem. After having the fuel pump and relay replaced. . which didn't help. I finally discovered it was the fuel pump relay receptacle plug was extremely dirty and had some corrosion causing intermittent contact.
