repsol honda rc211v '06(daniel pedrosa)

hi guys,

i wanted to make a camel m1 '06 edwards' version with usgp design but i didn't have anymore of the m1 '05 as the kit donor that time. since last friday when i got the staffs, my repsol '06 has been calling me to build as it has been in my pack & i have been looking at it for a while & the front fork set was one of the staff i received on that day.

since i've completed the engine, here is the pic of only one side which is different than the previous rc211v bike models.

i'm just wondering, isn't the engine of the '06 way different than the '03 version? when i opened the kit, i was pretty disappointed with the engine design as it's quite odd having a '03 design but have '06 clutch & cover.

i also thought that the front fork set would also provide the on board camera antenna like the m1 '04 front fork set. this is because i see that the exhaust holder has a hole for the antenna & the kit doesn't have it. i hope top studio comes up with things like this along with better explainations & diagram instruction sheet.

tomorrow i'll be working on the frame & the swing arm if i have the time.

Looks good so far, i too was very dissapointed when i opened the kit. Oh Well!!! I am almost finished with my nicky hayden bike. I know its not correct, but i like nicky so much better than Dani. I should have mine done later today, or sometime next week.

thanks, i didn't realise that nicky's version is way different than dani's. there's a thread here talking about this kit where i discovered the differences of nicky hayden's bike.

dave from details & design website has the cgm version of both US & valencia version but the decals are hard & they have 16.5" front wheel which we need the m1 front tyre. s27 is coming up with the coversion kit & i think it's easier than the cgm version even though they don't have the 16.5" front wheel which is correct.

as i'm building the swing arm at that time i noticed the differences compare to the previous rc211vs. here are the pics of it.

if the weather permits tomorrow, i guess i may be able to get the radiator & the front fender painted at that time.

Without this being a highjacking attempt, why do you fear the weather when painting? I see others that do that as well. What are the factors that can be troublesome?

Re: repsol honda rc211v '06(daniel pedrosa)

thanks. i'm looking at your wip thread on your valencia m1. the details seems to be nice.

i've attached the frame to the engine & the swing arm to the frame. i'm not sure but i feel that i'm disappointed so far when i placed the mudguard on the swing arm. can't tamiya make some effort to make a '06 engine & '06 mudguard design? here are the pics of the mudguard similarity.

here is the mudguard from the repsol '06 kit.

this is the mudguard that i've just taken from my hayden's repsol '03 mudguard.

somehow i've lost one of the pin stopper on the front fork set but i think i can still make use of the front fork set without the pin stopper though it may not stick to the place properly without it. since i'm too tired tonight, i'll work on the front fork tomorrow if i have the time.

Re: repsol honda rc211v '06(daniel pedrosa)

well, not that i fear the weather but it'll take longer to dry when it's cold. maybe i'm a little bit impatient when i do spray paint. he he. i'll try to be more patient this time. this is because when the weather's really hot, it'll fully dry in a few minutes otherwise it'll take longer time to dry.

sometimes if the wind is way strong, it may blow the parts away(luckilly it didn't happen so far) as i put it on the newspaper as the base. other than that, there wouldn't be any problem.

Re: repsol honda rc211v '06(daniel pedrosa)

since i've done the naked part of the bike, here are the photos of the naked bike.

since it's night time when i reach to the naked bike part, i've sliced the nose cowl as stated in the instruction sheet. also, since i've forgotten to paint the stand today, this bike has to use on the paint bottles for tonight as the stand.

this is the photo of the nose before it get sliced.

this is the photo after it's sliced with the sliced parts nearby.

I admire all of you that go for these repsol bikes. I fear the livery painting. Seems you've made a great job on it Adrian. How did you cut the wind screen?

Re: repsol honda rc211v '06(daniel pedrosa)

thanks, joel. the wind screen provided from the kit is shorter than the nose cowl. i cut the edge of the nose cowl with a knife.
