Angry loss of acceleration+ low idle

I'm driving a 95 pontiac bonneville se with 143,000 miles i noticed that i have been recieiving a low idle and my acceleration is lower then what it used to be. I just got done putting platnium spark plugs, air filter, and just changed oil. Can someone please tell me where to start, and what the problem can be.

Re: loss of acceleration+ low idle

I think the problem may be your platinum plugs. I would try to get some copper plugs in there and see what happens. On non-supercharged, the platinum is acceptable, but I'd question it....Don't use Bosch either.

Also, how old are your wires? You may want to replace those too if you haven't in a while. Make sure they are all in the correct position too (correct coil to correct cylinder) and that they are not hitting anything they shouldn't (like an O2 sensor)

The next thing I would check is teh resistance across your coil packs. Take a multimeter set to read Ohms, unplug the wires from the coil packs (2 wires/1 coil pack at a time), and put one probe on each post. The reading should be below 12 ohms for that car I believe. If it is above 12, you have a bad coil pack.

When you put in spark plugs- check gap, and I always thread them in by hand and finish off with the socket wrench. It's easy to get them lined up incorrectly in those holes.

It may not be the answer, but I hope it helps or at least gets you started.
