Re: E320 - Installing NEW Aftermarket Stereo
Be carefull...depending on the year of your e-320, the stereo is part of a optical cable ring that incoporates your amp, phone, info cluster, etc. breaking the optical ring will result in all components in that ring to stop working.

Yo !! THANKS for the warning , coz i was just about to get into it last wknd! I took a look and i can see the "amps" on the speakers. So i guess this puts a lil damper on hooking up some better tunes. Well i just got an iPod for Xmas and i have one of those FM transmitters. So i can run the iPod thru the stock stereo...so i am cool for a little while. Thanks again fo rthe heads up before i started snippin wires !! peace ~ T ~

after market stereo
Is anyone aware of any after market stereos that will plug right in to the e320 2001 model? Maybe something with a CD player!

Re: E320 - Installing NEW Aftermarket Stereo
I also have an iPod and purchased the Podfreq adaptor to broadcast FM. It's a bit pricey, but uses the iPod's docking port instead of the headphone adaptor. Still has a low end fidelity rating in my book.
What I REALLY want to do is find a decent direct link from the iPod's port connector into the CD changer plug on the E320 wagon stereo. I have Googled around for one, but do not know which one is best. Looking for feedback.

Re: E320 - Installing NEW Aftermarket Stereo
No news from me. All the advise I saw on the fiber optic connections between the stereo components has steered me away from the after market stuff. I caved and found a proprietary (sp?) trunk CD changer, and added it. Works fine. Still had to go thru a Mercedes shop to get them to que the computer!
