96 Delta 88 Wet floor on Drivers side

Have any clues as to why the floor could be soaked on the drivers side? Car was recked in front, however I didn't see anything when rebuilding front end. replaced air bags, dash, winshield. There was no damage to firewall area. don't see any signs of leak in winshield. Thanks in advance

Looked at it more today, is wet from the brake pedal down, will have to take out carpet and see if boot in firewall is leaking. Didn't know if there are any drains below the winshield that might be pluged. Had the dash replace when I put in new air bags, will have to look at the ducts for heater also.

Is it water? Your master cylinder could be leaking in through the brake booster. Not uncommon on a variety of cars.

Re: 96 Delta 88 Wet floor on Drivers side

We had the same problem with a 96 Olds 88 Royale. Problem was debris had built up in the wiper area under the plastic cover. This was preventing the water from flowing out throught the drains and the water eventually found a weak spot in a seam. Fix requires removing the plastic cover in the cowl area and cleaning debris and opening the drains. Be careful removing the wiper arms as replacements are not real easy to get. You may want to add some fresh sealer to the joints as a precaution.

Does it smell like anti-freeze? If yes, it could be your heater core.

Best Regards,
Stan

Re: 96 Delta 88 Wet floor on Drivers side

Buick forums(very similar to 88's) say remove fender and check seal between int. out firewall this was a manufacturing problem but could occur after front end smack
I have problems with passenger side on 92 buick had interior totally ripped out to check, sealled all around A/C box seam, windshield, etc I think it still leaks very little, never did pull of the fender cause the main problem is in the rear
