98 bonneville high speed shimmy

I have a 98 Bonneville that shimmies to the steering wheel at speeds above 55 mph. I have put on new tires and new rotors. didn't seem to help. Maybe it got a little better with new rotors, but not much. Just wanted to see if anyone else has come across this problem. This thing is driving me crazy, but I don't want to poor a lot of moola in it. Thanks!

Re: 98 bonneville high speed shimmy

I've been having the same problem for a long time too....took about 6 months and $700 to finally figure out. Put new tires, rotors and brakes on it. The front end seems "flighty" for a lack of better description and shimmys really bad at highway speeds, exactly like a tire out of balance. Turns out, it's an inner tie rod end that's shot...a $20 part from the local parts place! Hope this helps!
