Need help on government grants

Anyone has any recommendations on where to get gov't grants for business? I'm looking to open up my own business and a friend told me that gov'ts give out grants for small businesses but thats all he knows. Much appreciated.

The SBA (Small Business Administration) doesn't give out grants but they can help you secure a low-interest loan. Check out this website:

There might be other ways to get money from them, but if you just say "I need a grant to start a small business" you won't get it. Grants are given to charities and banks and schools and such...
