Exclamation My Car is Possessed!

First a little background...I have a 97' SC 2. I bought it a year ago. It had just gotten a used motor put in it right before I bought it. Its been burning 4 quarts a week since! Also the radio will not keep memory, everytime I turn off the car the time and stations are lost. Another strange thing is that the windshield wipers will turn on all by themselves! When they stop its in the middle or top of the cycle and I have to keep turning them off and on till I can get them to stop at the bottom where they are supposed to. Well lately problems have gotten worse. It began idling funny and then acting like its going to die. Then it actually did a couple of time but acts like it doesn't want to start. When I press the gas it seems like it isn't getting gas like its clogged or something. It sounds like its puttering when I accelerate. This has been going on for a month now. I took it to Pepboys to get an engine diagnostic. After 5 hours and $80 they only told me that they weren't sure what it was but they would have to run more diagnostic tests on the electrical and other stuff. The only codes they got were two possibilities but they said they weren't sure. One was the knock sensor the other was the quad driver. I spoke to my brother-in-law he said he thought it could be the ground wire to the battery or the BCM (body control module).Tonight I went to leave to go home and it acted like it didn't want to start as usual but as I got closer to home the radio started tripping out like it was turning on and off really fast. Of course its not set to a station so it was only visual. Then the windshield wipers start turning on by themselves again. Then only the speedometer gauge quit working but the other guages did work. The headlights and dashboard lights dimmed like I was losing juice. Coming down the hill right before the turn into my apartments the car died! I pulled into the driveway and the car stopped. I tried to start it but it was clicking because the battery was drained. I decided to pop the hood and take a look so I turned the keys and took them out. The radio light was still on and my wipers started up again! With NO keys in the ignition! I took the face off my radio and got out of the car but had no luck because it was too dark to see. Me and my kids walked to our apartment and after about an hour I walked back down there to see if I could get it to my apartment. I started the car but it acted like it wasn't going to. i pressed on the gas and got it going and pulled it into my space. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG? Thanks in advance for your thoughtful answers and suggestions!

Re: My Car is Possessed!

Take an 8mm socket to the positive and negative to the battery.. take them off completely and look at any corrosion at the post of the battery or on the connections.. clean and replace... be careful not to over tighten.

You're hard start somewhat solved by stepping on the "gas" pedal is the need for an engine coolant temperature sensor...ECTS... located on the driver side cylinder head .. $15.. replaced with a 13mm deeep 6 point socket.. if the two wire connector is corroded .. it needs to be replaced too... this is a "inexpensive" sensor but plays a large role in the starting and running of the engine..

Fix those two issues and some other problems may clear...
