How?! Someone Tell Me How!!(FNM)

How did Faith No More go from being an amazing rock band to this soft ballad crap. I've got to know, it's a HUGE transformation, considering they were total punks with Epic back in the day and before they broke up, they were...Easy like a sunday morning. TELL ME HOW!!!

Re: How?! Someone Tell Me How!!(FNM)

Well actually... it started as a bit of a piss-take. FNM used to play 'War Pigs' which was a cover of a Black Sabbath song in their live sets when they were doing the tour for The Real Thing. You also have to remember FNM in 1988-89 were a pretty innovative band and even Epic was a very avant garde crossover of rap and hard rock... well with metallers turning up at their gigs the band decided to change gears and played 'Easy' instead as a sort of well we are clever so there...

If you had the fortune of going to a live FNM gig they were an incredible band to see... even down to Mike Patton to opening a gig playing the theme to Midnight Cowboy on a "melodiscope" (looked like a small piano keyboard attached to a mouthpiece) solo under a spotlight...

The albums subsequent to Real Thing - Angel Dust, King for a Day... and Album of The Year showed the band were willing to take lots of different directions and were highly influential.... think of bands like Korn, Tool if FNM hadn't forged their sound at a time that MC Hammer and Culture Club were around... yechhh....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BclS5syB9Zg watch this video, and tell me that Mike likes what he's singing, especially on Epic, he barely changes his voice and it sounds terrible. It's like he was forced to do the 80's songs, which for the record I like more than the new songs. What the hell was happening to this band?? I heard they hated eachother.
