1995 1500

I'm going to be driving a 1995 chevt silverado 1500 a little over 2200miles here soon. My question is, one is there any thing I should look at bfore driving, besides the obvious oil change etc.... And what kind of MPG should I expect to get? I'll be driving from Ridgecrest California to Ohio, so I'm not sure what kind of gas prices I'll be paying. Any help would be great.

Only 2200 miles and it's 12 years old??? WOW!

You better make sure everything on that is working properly and lubed up.

No, he's saying he's gonna take that truck on a 2200 mile trip.

Re: 1995 1500

Sorry I wasnt clear on that. Yeah I'm driving 2200 miles, the truck itself has around 130,000miles on it. It been in the desert its whole life and one owner, I personally know the owner and he keeps verry good care of his vehicles. I'm pretty sure its never seen salt and its rarely seen rain. Been garaged and soo on. Forgot to mention its an automatic 5.7 ext cab short bed.

Change the oil, air filter, and fuel filter. Check the spark plugs; you might need to change them, too

Maybe give her a tune up, check all fluids change if needed, give
everything a good looking over,wires, hoses,etc....

Anyone think 18mpg is a safe assumption, keep in mind I'll probably be running nearly 80 the whole way, atleast from Denver too St.Louis.

Re: 1995 1500

18-19 is about right, as long as nothing is wrong with the truck. That's what I used to get on a 97 I had. It will depend a little on the gear ratio. I had 3.42. As far as anything else, just make sure when all services were done and top off any fluids that needs it. No need to change plugs, wires and filters if they were just done, but if it's been a while it might be a good idea to give it a tune up.
