99 SL2 stalling at high speed

Okay, I have a 99 Saturn SL2 1.9 DOHC in my shop right now. The syptoms are that the car will stall at highway speeds. This vehicle was brought to me and I was informed that it had not had an oil change in about a year (this car is a daily driver). So I flushed the engine (no chunks came out), flushed the coolant system, cleaned the throttle body. I replaced the ECTS with the Saturn replacement for the plastic one. The car will sit and idle for hours with no problems, it will drive locally (residential/ low speed) with no problems. When you get it on the highway it will drive for about 10 -12 miles then it will jerk twice, loose power and stall and die. If you give it throttle to try and keep it alive it dies faster. Once dead, the car will start back up, idle eratically then die again. If you leave it alone for about 5 mins, it starts back up and drives with no problems for about 2 miles and jerks and stalls again. I have checked and cleaned the IAC, TPS, MAF and all are working properly according to my scan tool. Engine temp stays between 174-183 when engine is warmed up fully. The EGR was replaced 2 years ago by Saturn. When I check the EGR status on my scanner, it only shows the pintle position being at .7 and never moving with more or less throttle. I removed the EGR, it was clean and the pintle moves freely. When it dies I am also getting a TCC malfunction code. This code does not turn on the SES light or even come up as a currant code. It shows in the history and failure record codes. Any one seen this before? I am wondering if it could be the TCC at higher speeds is malfunctioning, the EGR, or maybe the coils. There is no missfire codes at all and the vehicle just bogs down and dies, never missfires.

Re: 99 SL2 stalling at high speed

Do you think it could be the ECM?
