Not a major issue. Never had a mine go out, just the motor got real slow. But no big deal.

Plus, power windows can be a problem with any car with power windows. You can't base this as a major problem.

And yes "Blenderwizzard" I am quite sure it was the truck that left a sour taste in my mouth. Sorry to bust your bubble, but these trucks were total junk and a embarrasment to GM.

Yep, you got ripped off. I have a 2000 Z71 ext cab. and I only $21K for it brand new.
the only problem I am having with my truck now is the sending unit. and I had to replace the tailgate cables once.
Other than that. it has been a great truck. 155K miles and still running strong.

I agree with Blenderwizzard, I do not think it was the truck that left the bad taste in your mouth

I am a little jealous of the new Toyota Tundra with the 5.7 380HP and 401lbs torque. that is more than the 6.0 Max. I think if I stray away from Chevy. it would be for that. I do not care for the front styling of the Tundra, but the power makes up for it.

Any thoughts?

Posting this again, because apparently it is being missed. He was not ripped off.

Now, plug in 50,000 dollars, make sure it says from canadian to US dollars, we want the nominal rate because he didn't pay an exchange fee. Now, lets pick a single day, say January 7, 1999. On January 7, 1999, a $50,000 Canadian dollar truck would cost $33,073.16 USD.

Yep, not too far off here is it? And no, I'm not canadian, and never been to canada before, but this is fairly simple stuff.

Do you remember the incident Ford had with Cars blowing up in people's garage because of there Cruise control?
Ford did not do a thing until people were getting injured and dying.. So don't lay all down on GM.
Like every bussiness, it is a numbers game. They have to calculate the odds.
if it happens once. they are not going to recall every vehicle.

If I recall, Gm did address the issues you mentioned. All except the Tranny issue, which is the first I have even heard about in all the posts I have read. maybe 1% of the people who own a 1/2 ton are having that problem. That does not constatute a recall or even redsign. Now from what I understand with the 07's they have redesigned thesew trucks from the ground up. But like most redesigns you will have issues, just like Ford, Dodge, Nissan, and Titan. You should read some of the issues they have.. WOW

$33k does sound like quite a bit more than $21k

Re: 2007 Truck of the Year???

Well, He did give a different price of 41750, so it has to be lowered a bit from the original 50k he stated which is what I was working from. I think that comes down to around 27k USD. Yea, still a good bit more than 21k, but we have to keep in mind market conditions in Canada are different and demand may have been higher at that time. This was pre major gas price increase, so demand was definitely higher and GM wasn't desperate to unload like the past few years.

Still, he did say that the 41K figure was sticker price, so maybe he just isn't a very good negotiator, b/c I know I've never paid sticker price. But, it's not nearly as bad as it sounds prior to the conversion. Currently, that 41K would be 35.5K USD (todays exchange rate). He said they would be over 50K now. Anybody form Canada out there that can confirm this price? Unless this is the really loaded model, it does sound several thousand high, but then again, it could be the going canadian rate. I mean crap, any place that has a 15% sales tax rate would seem to have a higher cost of living than my home town.

Re: 2007 Truck of the Year???

I just test drove one this afternoon.
The one I test drove was the Ext cab, short bed, LTz with every option.
I hope there are no bugs with these. I am planning on picking one up in the next few weeks. The handling was amazing and the interior alone made my jaw drop. I love everything about the new silverado.

Re: 2007 Truck of the Year???

Although I am fairly happy with my Silverado, I think GM could have stepped up to the plate a little more on the Piston Slap and the Intermediate column clunk...Mine started the steering clunk about 6 months ago and GM isn't fixing anything. Not a good way to ensure repeat business.. Given the foreign guys are eating their lunch, not to smart in my opinion.
