Engine swap help
I have a 93 oldsmobile cutlass supreme with a 3.1 litre in it. I was wondering if I could swap that out with my 94 camaro 3.4 litre. If so what all would i need to hook it up. also the camaro is wrecked but the engine is unharmed

Re: Engine swap help
the problem with this type of engine swapping, is the engine management systems are never compatable. You can't simply unplug one and plug in the other. The amount of headaches involved attempting to get it to work is large and technical.
you would need to research it heavily, to see how simular they are....its possible it might not be unsermountable....but as a general rule, its difficult

Re: Engine swap help
As a general rule, RWDs from that family don't swap with FWDs from that family. Although they're the same family, the starters are on the other side, the motor mount bosses are totally different.
Swapping a 3.4 from another FWD would be much simpler. Then you could use a mix 'n' match selection of parts, computers, sensors, and connectors to get the 3.1 computer to run the 3.4 motor. Tough job, but its do-able.
