2004 Pontiac Grand Prix Transmission problem

I have a 04 Grand prix gt with about 100k on it and lately i have been noticing hard shifts after driving the car for about 30 min or so. I also have
01 Grand Prix and i had the same problem on it i replaced a PCS. So i wanted to find out if it could be the same problem on the 04. But i heard that GM resolved this issues stating from 02 model year. Can anyone suggest what to do. It does not happen every day like ones a week. Thanks.

Can't answer your question, but can you tell me what a PCS is?

Re: 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix Transmission problem

It is very possible that it is the PCS. The new updated ones still have wear issues but are not really a big issue like the older PCS. Get it scanned look for long shift times or a 1811 DTC.

PCS is pressure control solenoid. It controls the transmissions pressure during shifts, different throttle positions, engine load, changes pressure if the AC is on and at various other times. This solenoid is constantly working and wears out often on pre 03 models.

Where is the PCS located? Is it an internal part?
