1992 Le Sabre dies.

Ok, my Buick Le Sabre has "broke down" a few times on me. The first time, my car started shaking pretty violently and the lights were dimming then fine then dimming, etc. Turned out to be two(2) of the coil packs, but I replaced all 3. Ran fine for a month and a half.

Next I broke down, car shook a little but not as violent, I figured maybe just a coil pack went from the weather. Turned out to be a little sensor that sits right on top of the hose for the air intake (the hose that runs from the filter to the engine). Replaced that with a part from a junk yard, and the car ran fine for a month.

Now, I broke down again, once again the car shook, once again I figured it was the coil packs from the weather, but they all still had good spark. Turned out that same little sensor went bad, and I replaced it with a brand new part. However the car still won't start. We checked the fuel pressure, and there is no fuel going to the engine.

Do you think it's a bad filter, the pump went bad, or just a computer thing that needs reset. Haven't tried any of those yet, been waiting for some free time. JUst curious what others thought.

Re: 1992 Le Sabre dies.

I think your close.. possibly the Ignition module under the coil packs..

If its somewhere ignition oriented..The ignition module controls fuel pulses via the camshaft sensor input.

Good Luck

When you turn the key on, no crank, can you here the pump run for a few seconds? Are there any codes? With the engine cranking, is there an injector pulse?

How did you conduct the fuel pressure test, with a fuel pressure tester? First, verify that you have voltage going to the pump. If you do have voltage, I would suspect the pump.

Re: 1992 Le Sabre dies.

Sometimes the gas gauge can fail so you might want to add a gallon or two just to make sure you're not out of gas. Fuel pump gets power from fuse #6 under the passenger side of dash. Fuel pump relay is also there & you can try swapping with another relay. In your case the most likely suspect besides the pump itself is a corroded ground bus. Read my post in the following thread for more info. Let us know what you find.
