I know this has been discussed before but I didn't find anything recent.
I am considering an Xterra and I just wanted to know what your opinions were as far as what year is the best, which trim is best, and if the supercharger is worth getting. Also, if you know of any Xterra sites that are good. Thanks.

Re: Thinking of buying an Xterra
When I researched my 06, I did look at used as well. What I found in this area (new england) was the used ones were way overpriced for the mileage and wear they had on them and with the 4.0 v6 they started using in 05 the new ones get better mileage than the older x's with the supercharger. I paid $22k for my 06 x, few weeks later I saw an 05 x with the same options selling for $23k.

Re: Thinking of buying an Xterra
I love my xterra, it's an 02 4x4 v6 regular xe package. I did several things to it since I bought it new. Full skid row skid plates. K&N cold air exhaust , Magnaflow stainless steel catback exhaust. BFG's all terrain T/A tires. HID headlights. and recently bilstein shocks. I like the older Xterra's because they handle better have better visability, and the drive train does not have vacuum actuated 4x4 . Living in New england I really appreciated this when I bought my truck. Youl'l see why in a few years if moisture gets inside that and rots out the whole 4x4 system like it did in my old s10 Chevy Blazers. As far as thinking about buying I would test drive on a bumpy road , think about the fuel economy and think about what you intend on doing with the vehicle. I use mine for what it was intended for. Off road to get to fishing spots throwing my mountain bikes in the back and camping with it. Basically an outdoor enthusiasts sport locker. If you intend on going to the mall , by a Jeep Liberty.
