Spyder GST Build Complete woo! Thanks all!

This past weekend I ordered all the parts that I needed to finish my upgrades to the spyder. I figured I'd get around to it in spring. But when they started coming in the mail I just had to install them..

What I installed all at once:
- Walbro 255HP
- FMIC
- Exhaust 3" -> Dual 3" exhaust
- RRE Short Down Pipe
- 2x dynomax 3" mufflers
- Magnaflow 3" cat.
- Evo o2 housing
- Evo Big 16 G + Install Kit
- New exhaust manifold thats ported.
- FIC Injectors 850 CC
- DSM Link
- Fuel Pump Rewire Kit
- Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator + firewall install kit
- Fuel Pressure Gauge

Anyhow My build of my car is now complete in a little under a week. It took me 4 days of 5pm - 11pm working to get all this stuff installed and leak checked.

Advice if I had to do it again:
- Don't install everything at once it's much harder to tune later (learned the hard way), I should have listened.
- If you can splurg and don't want to deal with 8 hours of FMIC work go with an Extreme Turbo Systems FMIC. It took me about an hour and a half to install, requires no cutting and you can keep the fogs. Most of the trouble was getting the front bumper off.
- Dual exhaust is a pain to organize when you want to do some of the exhaust work yourself and need part custom... If you like it go for it, if you don't care so much about performance don't. Your choice I like symmetry and love the look. For 3" all the way through i Had to modify the spare tire well.*
- I have no clue what I'm doing with tuning yet I have to figure out link and get it to work on my pepperpad 3 as it's all I got thats portable. I also didn't look through the link manual yet. You should probably do this before building the car as now I'm impatient and want to drive it but can't.
- Get a firewall install kit if you get a FPR because it may hit your strut tower bar if you don't. Again I learned the hard way because I didn't read around enough.
- B&M FPR is shit and some sites misrepresent it. Make sure to go with an aeromotive. I now have one I have to ship back to Summit.

Pictures some other night when I'm not feeling dead. It sucks that it's so icy out or I'd be out in the car now.

*It's hard to get good information because 90% of people feel the need to flame you for being rice. If you can wade through it you can find some good stuff in old threads on tuners. Wasn't so much on here. I mean no offense to people here who responded to my post. I appreciate your warning on the loss in performance and you were very helpful in convincing me to go 3" instead of 2.5". However a large majority of other threads, there are like 20 about it on tuners where 99% of the posts are "you're rice!". It's ashame there aren't some really good kits or faqs for this. I took pics of the install and will gladly post them when I have time.

Now this summer all I have to do is change the paint color to be darker and install a new top.

Thanks for all your help in the past months when I bugged you guys with often repetitive questions. Even though they were often newbish I did do research prior to posting but alot of posts were cryptic or hard to understand. You guys cleared it up for me to where I felt confident buying and installing these parts myself.

I'm sure I'll tap your knowledge in the coming months when I try to start it and get it tuned.

Re: Spyder GST Build Complete woo! Thanks all!

I'm working on picture posts now. Nothing is incredibly exciting. FMIC pictures are the best I guess... No cutting, no trimming, no fanagling with anything it just fits. It's nice and big and fills my grill area too. But it was a tad pricey. Although worth it for no hassle imo.

But yes as soon as I get write ups and stuff and figure out what some of the pictures are from I'll post.

Re: Spyder GST Build Complete woo! Thanks all!

Maybe in a few months lol. I'm not sure I'm that good with a welder yet to feel safe making new brackets and stuff for awd. I also shouldn't spend much more since I spent about 3.5k on all that stuff I put on and just bought the rav4. My pocket book is hurting atm. Payday next thursday though!

I find now that I'm in the real world I don't have anymore free cash then I did when I was in school. I just buy more toys.

Pretty sweet. Just a question as to why you went so large with the injectors, if your just running a 16g? IIRC 660's or so are about max you need for the 16g. Planning on going bigger at some point?

Re: Spyder GST Build Complete woo! Thanks all!

I was told that you could potentially run 660's to the max on a 16g. I was looking at getting a set off my friend that were 7xx. Then I shopped around the web and found that extreme psi has dirt cheap injectors that are of good quality. The difference between the 7xx's and the 850's was 10 dollars. It gives me room to grow if I want.

My only fear with fuel feed is that I will outflow the stock fuel rail. I'm not sure at what point you should replace that really. I was running this morning and It seemed i had enough fuel for what I was tooling with.

I tried to do a few runs with DSMLink this morning. My pepperpad's serial adapter is flakey i need to get another.

Well I'm pretty sure you won't have to worry about the stock fuel rail on your setup. I'm pretty sure the fuel rail is one of the things on the car that is actually over-engineered and I know people don't really change them until they have pretty powerfull setups.

Tom and Dave now sell DB9 adapters for $19. There are some pretty experienced Dsmlink users here. Don't be shy, I'd rather spend my time looking though data log anyway...
