2001 lights dim issues
Does anyone know why the lights dim and the heater (while on high) is very low in my pontiac 2001 grand prix while idling and improve when i rev the engine. I am thinking the battery or alternater are bad but don't know which one. the battery is 1 year old.

Re: 2001 lights dim issues
Alternator wiring or alternator itself is most likely.
Its pretty loaded when all the electrics are on but should work ok. Should hold pretty good at a good idle, good idle.. 800-1000 rpm. Check Idle and then try looking at wires and cables. Proubbly a dirty corroded small wire to the alternator or diode in the alternator. But you should clean and check closely and clean the wires to both the alternator and the battery. Good Luck
