Honestly, you're using far too much paint with too small a brush for the larger areas, and it's leading to very large brushstrokes that wreck the effect of the two-toning.

Also, you may want to use some 3M Blueline painter's tape or Bare-Metal Foil to redo the separation between the black and the red, since it's very clearly uneven with spotty paint application.

Agreed. I would strongly recommentd spray painting larger parts and definetely using tape for masking.

Ey man nice work i think its good so far, one thing id suggest is pitch in some extra cash and use spray cans for most of the car, paint ur seats, interior chassis all with spray cans and its worth it!

Re: Amemiya U Greddy RX-8

Did you paint the red after the black? You don't have to use this info. But would like to share a technique I use, and I MAY help you if you choose to do so....I paint all lighter colors first. Make sure it is even and flat. Red sucks when it comes to brush painting. It usually takes 2 coats to cover completely. Just be patient with it...thats what modelling is all about! And have fun with it!

I do the same thing, light colors before darker, however, I've noticed that metallics like silver and gold go over black, oddly enough, quite easily. My recommendation for brush painting, and I do a lot of it because I just enjoy it, is to take your time, and use a small brush. I always carry a lot of paint onto the part, and then spread it out. Generally, it doesn't take much doing it like that to get good coverage. Just take deep breaths, and relax. Another small thing that helps is painting on "out-breath". It's a trick I learned from photography; for some reason, you're steadier when you exhale. But remember, enjoy your model first and foremost. If what we're saying sounds like rubbish to you, then it's your prerogative to ignore us.

All that being said, your exterior paintjob looks great! The shine is really, really good. I wish I could see a picture or two more of it.

They're only helping you out, despite how you may see it. If nobody ever pointed out the mistakes we make, how can we continuously improve our skills?
