1998 T&C brake power booster problem?
I think I have a problem with my brakes, I have to press kind of hard on the pedal to stop the van (almost like I have manual brakes), I just bought the van a week ago and it was like this when I got it. Do I have a power booster problem?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, Thanx |

Re: 1998 T&C brake power booster problem?
That kind'a sounds like a booster that is not boosting. Check the vacuum line going to the booster for leaks. If everything looks good, disconnect it from the booster, plug the open end of the vacuum line and start up the van, then see if it is sucking like it should. Then get a piece of bulk hose and attach to the booster and apply suction by mouth. If you cannot get the booster to hold a vacuum, you will need to replace. Otherwise, if you cannot get vacuum from the vacuum line with the engine running, the problem is with the hoses and the booster is fine. Let us know if you have any questions.
