Question The worst journey of my life! yesterday Carlisle to Sunderland

Just bought a banger for to get to work and back...
But the steering is as stiff as hell. I drove the 70 mls back home and it was the worst jouney of my life. i had to wrestle with the steering wheel to control it.
Car should never have been sold in this state!

Anybody any ideas...Steering rack?? or what

Take it to a suspension/steering shop and have it looked at. Shouldn't cost that much to at least have it inspected.

Re: The worst journey of my life! yesterday Carlisle to Sunderland

Thanx for your input on this thread. I am going to try and diagnose it myself.
At the moment the car is in my drive up on axle stands and I have just purchased a Ball Joint Splitter to remove the trackrod ends to examine the rack, I'm not sure whether it is the steering rack or the struts...We shall see.
Further info when I have an update.
