Hi Both the driver and passenger seat in my PA the backrest won't come up its stuck in the recline position. The motor just died and I removed the cushion to see how to replace the motor. It looks very confusing, I read that you have to replace the whole seat rack. Any ideas on how to do this,is it possible to change it yourself? PLEASE HELP!!

Re: 97 park avenue power seat problems HELP!!
My recline on a 94' PA has two worm all/thread type rods that go from front to back on both sides of each seat.
It got gunked up where the plastic gear turns to follow this gear. The motors got hot when trying to recline. The motors snap on and off this gear assembly and transfer power with a flexable axle. I took out the seat, took out the gear and rods and cleaned out the old grease and regreased the follower gear with white lithium grease and also greased the rods. At install I made sure both gears were in similar positions. If your motor can be checked for "trying to work" you may have the same issues. The transfer power cable would flex as it was trying to turn the little gear follower box on the all/thread rod. Others have found the electrical source missing since the switch sometimes shorts to the rack and blows fuses. Good Luck
