1970 carbureted or fuel injected
My buddy got his first car which, obviously is a 1970, (not Super sport) he absolutely loves. He's got about half a year to work on it, and plans to make it awesome. He's got a delema though, he's not sure whether to clean the stock carb, put a new one on, or just go all out with fuel injection. He's kind of on a budget so he can't afford anything too fancy. He's also looking for a bit of fuel mileage. So, please people i need some opinions, thanks.

If he's going to go with injection, he's going to need a complete ECM/PCM setup with all associated sensors. Going this route, he might want to buy an old '94-'96 Caprice 9C1 or other LT1 powered Caprice and grab the entire setup out of that, PCM - LT1 - 4L60E.

well, I dont see the practicality in that. Why spend 1000$ on some old thing when you could spend a little more to get a brand new fuel injection kit? Besides that, I still need to know what i should tell him. Fuel injected or carbureted?

You say your buddy is on a budget. If his carb is a quadrajet, he should rebuild it. They get decent milage with the small primaries & can get decent performance with the large secondaries. jon

The downer LT1 doesn't need to run. You just need to make sure the electronics, engine, and trany are all there. If you look you may find somebody that just wants to get rid of one. or check junkyards, you might get a rear or side collision. My dad got a Camero that had cancer, a blown engine, and the front was messed up because it rolled down the guys driveway into a pole. He put that setup in an s-10.
