96 T&c Turn Signals Failing Intermittantly
Hello all;
I am buying a '96 T&C and this forum seems like it has a great deal of knowledge so I just registered! My question is that the turn signals on the van quit intermittantly, and then with no explanation just start working again. I know all the bulbs are good, and the hazard flashers work with no problems, it only affects the turn signals. Any ideas on what to look at? I'm guessing the switch, BCM (I hope not...) or possibly a bad ground somewhere? Although the bad ground doesn't make sense to me because all the other lights work great. Thanks! |

Re: 96 T&c Turn Signals Failing Intermittantly
Could be the switch, could be the combination flasher, doubt it's the BCM. I would throw in a new combo flasher first. If the $30+ price turns you off, gain access to the switch (termed the multi-function switch) connector on the steering column and check continuity through the switch. Make sure you disconnect the battery to prevent blowing an airbag. Should see continuity at contacts 4 and 8 for the left and contacts 3 and 8 for the right. Contact 8 is ground and is grounded at the instrument panel ground. I think that's at the left kick panel.

Re: 96 T&c Turn Signals Failing Intermittantly
Thanks for the info. I'm going to work on it tomorrow. I read other threads where it was the CFM, so I'm going to try wiggling that, and maybe pulling it just to visually check it out.
I'll let everyone know when/if I get it fixed! |

Re: 96 T&c Turn Signals Failing Intermittantly
Well, I took a look at it, and it is the "CFM" or Combination Flasher Module on the fuse block underneath the dash. As soon as you wiggle it, it starts working. Chrysler here (FL) wants $48 for a new one.
Thanks for all the great info. and forum! |
