rim sizes 17" or 18" & offsets

Does anyone have the offset req. for the max, I'm looking for rims and i need to know the offsets before i go. also, who makes some light anthracite rims?... i have a superblack 96 SE and i am undecided between chrome 18" or anthracite 18"

Knowledge is power...

i went with 225/40/18 offset on mine were i believe 38.... where exactly are you gonna purchase the rims?? The shop will tell u what offset and tire size. I was gonna go 235/40/18 but the sales rep said it would not be necessary for the wideness so why spend more money. I guess it depends on the rims. for cheap rims check out www.wheelmax.com.. their reps are very knowledgable and its a toll free numba.. good luck

You can listen to him and get 225/40 18 and rack up more miles on your car or you can get the correct size 235/40 18, and that to me is still too small. So go with the correct size 235/40 18. Apparently he and the shop did not know what they are doing and it boils down to total price. Do it right the first time 18x8 and 235/40 18 will be right.

the shop I dealt with has been in business for more than 30 yrs and you are telling me they dont know what they are talking about?? Tell me where in da hell do u find 18 inch rims with tires all for $1200 mounted blance, tax, and free rotations. I asked the tech which I personally know for 10 yrs what the correct size of the tire is because I was going to go 235/40/18 or even 245. He said by going 235 would be a waste of time and the tires would stick out too much. Also having wider tires is not always better than what most people said. He said the ratio between the offset and size of the rim has to be as close as possible to stock spec so that it will balance out the gas mileage on your vehicle and wear on your tires. Well, some people have their own opinion. Just to show money aint a thang for them. Doing it right tha first time? BLah.. I say do the smart thing first. Use your head and not yo mouth.

Cool

I have 18x8 rims with 40mm offset on my SHO with 235/40/18 Pirelli's and those were the best looking(not big ass sidewall) tires closest to my stock tire diameter from my old stock 215/60/16 tires. Now I looked up the stock tire diameter on your Max and it is 25.3" with 215/55/16, your 225/40/18 run a bit small at 25.1", the other option of 235/40/18 have a 25.4" diameter, so technically both of you are right. Because either way your speedo calibration is gonna be off, 25.1" it'll be a bit fast at 60MPH, and 25.4 would be a bit tall so it will show you going slower only by tenths of a MPH. IMHO the 235/40/18 would be the better choice just because you get more rubber on the ground, on both our 4-doors I think this is important, we need as much as possible tire tread on the road, especially if you plan on pushing it to the edge(i.e. AutoXing). My next set of tires will defitnaly be 245/40/18, now knowing that they will fit with no rubbing etc.

Thumbs down 225 too small barely no sidewall incorrect size Maxima owners!

wow they told you 235 or 245/40 18 is not necessary,

Rule number one is your car dont let a shop tell you whats right when deep down inside you knew 235 was proper vice 225.

If in fact 225 is proper then do a search here and on the org and see who many members have 225/40 18 tires? not many!! Since you let some id!ot decide what size tire is correct dont pass the bum scoop here since I know for a fact 235/40 is the approriate size:badass:. Is pretty obvious you dont care to do research and find out that in fact 235 is .4 millimeters taller then a 225/40 tire.

But anyways for the thread starter dont get a 225/40 18 tire youll have a bigger gap in your fenderwell and you will barely have any sidewall like Pickalloo who said hes shop said to jump out the 2nd floor vice the 3rd.:silly2: . Trust me I know what I am talking about. Ask cheston the owner of this site if you have to.

Do it right the first time 17x8 or 18x8 size wheels. 235/45 17 and 235/40 18 tires.
