the bottom will get very warm, very typical. 28 is not very hot. overheating will usually cause a sudden power off, not a lock up. i think you have other problems.

It could be a multitude of different things, but I doubt it's because of heat.

At this point, I would just do a clean install of XP and see if that clears up the problem. If it dosn't, then you know it is most likely hardware that is causing your problem.

i might give that a try. have to see if a friend has a disc i can borrow. still a good cleaning wouldnt hurt.
